An Oil Painting Artist - Marcella Gillenwater

Artist Statement:
With the infinite possibilities of the paint I reach for the "language of intent". This language is felt in every object and every individual, whether it be of a representational or abstract result. To this expression, I dedicate my work and allow my mind to be set free.
-Marcella
Bio:
Marcella Gillenwater is an advocate for painting from life, whether it be from the complexities of the human figure or the subtlety offered in nature. Engaging in plein air painting to enhance her studio work, Marcella values the medium of oil with it's flexible nature and versatility to express what the sun whispers.
Born and raised in Idaho, Marcella holds a BFA from Utah State University. After graduating college, she relocated to New York City for a few years to expand and inspire her mind in the arts. During that time, she began showing her work in venues and galleries. She's been painting full-time for over 16 years, and currently resides in Idaho. Her devotion to art, her search for knowledge and penchant for learning continue to enlighten and grow. She strives to illustrate the quiet intent behind each scene that develops on the canvas.
Events:
This summer was filled with a series of Plein Air events and travels throughout Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah. The connection seems to grow tighter between the wilderness and the canvas.
